Breaking Bread Friday
Welcome to “Breaking Bread Friday;” the final installment of the Ozark United Methodist Church’s virtual table of fellowship. What a pleasure it’s been to spend mid-days with you this week, experiencing the presence and power of the risen Christ in the connection of Christ’s community!
Begin today, as we have each day, with this table blessing prayer: “For good food and those who prepare it, for good friends with whom to share it, we thank you Lord. Amen.”
I can’t think of a better way to end our together this week than with this.
7 Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love. 9 God’s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might live through him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Beloved, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God lives in us, and his love is perfected in us. 1 John 4:7-12, NRSV
What does this passage of Scripture say about God that you are thankful for in this moment? What does it say about the relationship between God and human beings that you’ve never really thought about before? What does this passage say about how we are to relate to one another that is a challenge for you right now?
Lately one of my favorite songs has been Chris Tomlin’s “Jesus Loves Me.” Take an extra breather to experience the reality of God’s great love for you in Jesus that this song shares. Click here to listen.
Keep OUMC in your prayers today. Pray for this coming Sunday morning; for all who will gather for worship and all who have a part in making things happen. Pray that as we dwell in Scripture, fellowship, breaking of the bread, prayer, and more…that the risen Christ will dwell in us richly. Christ is risen!
