Defining Moments

Dramatic comeback after comeback…after comeback…after comeback.  It’s been a few years, but whether you are an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan or not, Game 6 of the 2011 World Series is hard to forget.

More than once in that game against the Texas Rangers, the Cardinals were down to their last out and somehow found a way to stay in it.  Then there was St. Louis native David Freese hitting a walk off homerun to win the game in the bottom of the eleventh inning.  I’m guessing some of you hard core Cards fans could still tell me where you were when that happened.

It was the defining moment for the 2011 World Champion Cardinals, but probably even more so for David Freese.  No matter what has, or will happen, in the rest of his baseball career, that homerun will be his defining moment!

I’m guessing that few, if any, of us will ever achieve the instant national fame and stardom of Mr. Freese, but we all have our defining moments.  Those moments often come in stressful, pressure-packed situations when decisions made, and actions taken, can make all the difference.  When that happens it’s often a matter of faith.  Whether God seems active and present in the moments or not, the question is, will we act based on our faith and trust in God.

The answer can make all the difference in defining your life!
