Meet Pastor Steve
Hi, I’m Steve Blacksher and I’m excited to serve as the pastor here at the Ozark United Methodist Church and in the Ozark and Sparta communities!
I’ve been married to the love of my life, Natalie, for the past 33 years plus. We both enjoy spending time outdoors (gardening, hiking, bicycling, canoeing, skiing of the snow variety, etc.) and time with family. I’m an avid reader and Natalie loves painting, home remodeling projects, and cooking. Favorite food? That’s easy…PIZZA!
Our oldest son Andy, daughter-in-law Kristen, and grandsons Zachary and Nathan live in the Lake of the Ozarks area of central Missouri. Our youngest son Ethan, and daughter-in-law Allison, live in Cuba, Missouri. Much of our extended family lives here in the Southwest Missouri region as well.
I spent about 17 years in the food processing and manufacturing business in the production, quality assurance, and business management fields. Then in 2004 I felt God calling me to enter the formal ministry of the church. In 2005 I began attending seminary at Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa, OK and in June of 2011 was ordained as an Elder in the United Methodist Church.
I’m a follower of Jesus Christ who is passionate about helping people not currently connected to Christ and the church, get connected! My signature verse from the Bible is Mark 1:17, “‘Come follow me,’ Jesus said, ‘and I will make you fishers of people.’” Because of this call and passion in my life, I’m excited to be partnering with everyone at Ozark UMC in our mission of “leading people to actively follow Jesus Christ” and in our vision of “becoming more deeply connected with God, and our community, so that we can better reach those not currently connected with Christ and the church!”
