September Sermon Series: A Tale of Two Cities
September 2020 Sermon Series—A Tale of Two Cities
“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times…” That is how Charles Dickens begins his 1859 classic historical novel, A Tale of Two Cities, which is set in London and Paris prior to the French Revolution. This also seems to be an apt description of the world, as we experience it today. In truth, though, every day and age, throughout history, could be described in these terms. That is what it means to live in a fallen, broken world, but one that is the creation of a good and loving God who seeks to restore it. So, what does God have to say to us today about the world we live in?
Join us throughout September as we wrestle with what it means to live as faithful followers of Jesus in a world that often seems in turmoil, but that is filled with so much goodness. Throughout this series, we will be drawing some parallels between the experiences of the early church in the first century, and ours today, looking at the Apostle Paul’s letters to four of the early Christian communities. Where is God in the world today? What does God want for us? How are we to live? Come explore this with us as we tell a tale of two cites.
