We know the various foundational teachings and beliefs of our faith; things like Incarnation, Crucifixion, Resurrection, Redemption, Salvation, as well as faith, hope, and love. We also know that we are called to give ourselves in service to God and to other people. The real question to ask is: what practices are we to undertake as followers of Jesus that flow out of our foundational beliefs? It may come as a surprise to know that, since the earliest Christians, hospitality was a practice that was central to living out faith in Christ. We may have an understanding of what hospitality entails, but do we really know what Christian hospitality truly is? As we seek to be a faithful church community, we will spend this month exploring the vast implications of living out the hospitality of Christ both inside and outside the church.
